- About the Artist
- The Adventure of Life: Travelling in Colour I think of my art as ongoing and always evolving fragments of a life. I express this life through drawings, paintings and photographs. I do not intend to produce art about one subject or another, instead I take cues from music, culture and colour. My art is feminine, chaotic, sometimes tactile, and is generally centered around a certain colour or juxtaposition of colours and light. This show has three prevailing series; Through a Lens, Life in Paint, and Marilyn. The first, is a series of photographs taken throughout Manitoba and British Columbia. I photograph in a haphazard and disorganized way often just by drifting around the area that I hope will inspire me. Images with accidental beauty never fail to charm me and through aimless wandering I am able to achieve that result. The second series; Marilyn, is exactly what you’re thinking – a series of images based on the late, great Marilyn Monroe. She was gorgeous and feminine and her sense of innate sexuality was irresistible. With her beautiful pout and curves she makes an enthralling subject. The final series; Life in Paint, is a visual interpretation of music, people and situations that have piqued my interest. These paintings are full of bright colours, layers, textures and were created using many different techniques and mediums. Enjoy!
