About the Artist

My name is Mark Johnston, my warrior name is Running Wolf. I am from Brokenhead First Nation Reserve. I have been doing artwork, as well as other crafts and carvings since I was 12 years old. Growing up each day, not knowing and understanding why I had to go through what I have experienced and what I have done in my younger life, these experiences made me very afraid of life. Now that I am older and have sought help for healing, I came to an understanding and forgiveness. Without these experiences I don’t think I would be who I am today. It taught me not to be afraid of that vicious cycle that is out there, still today... The reason I do my art is that I found out that it brings me healing and understanding and peace to my spirit. What I mean is that my art is very spiritual and means a whole lot to me. I share these gifts with you and pray and hope that it helps all you beautiful people in the same way as it has done for me. My art and my gifts is what feeds my soul, and lights the fire that burns within me. May it bring peace and joy to yours. Thank you and may the great spirit watch over you... Megwech
