About the Artist

My artworks are inspired by my native land, Asian and Chinese Culture. Red is the most important color for my art and background. My red is "China red". In the Beijing Opera, the roles who have red faces means integrity and honesty. For chinese modern culture, red is Communist Party. In one hand, I feel red faces shows more happiness, warmness and good fortune as my culture. In the other hand, I feel red faces shows my personality and experiences. Asia faces always have a complexity of the emotions and mystery. For me, I own a typical asia face, so I use my own face as a model in my painting. Faces are channels to show what people want to express. However in my culture, people don’t like to do that. That’s why almost all the faces in my painting are complicated and depressed feeling. So, I tried to use my brush and my mind to show the sensitive and subtle change of human faces. People from different places will have different understandings and feeling of my paintings. That’s the most interesting things about art.
