Healing through Art
- Tags:
In September, the Edge Gallery will host Healing through Art, a twelve-week expressive art therapy group for Aboriginal men. The Edge Gallery is part of a working group consisting of five primary service providers for the homeless: the Salvation Army, the Siloam Mission, the Main Street Project, Neeginan, and the Red Road Lodge. Group members will be Aboriginal men referred from one of these organizations.
In this group, participants will have the opportunity to use creative expression to explore thoughts, feelings and experiences with a variety of art materials. Group members will be supported in achieving their individual goals and will also be encouraged to work together as a group on common issues that face their community. The group experience will conclude with a public art exhibit which will educate the public about issues facing Aboriginal people and the healing journey of the members.
Group will be facilitated by Julie Epp, Art Therapy Student.
